    1. the slavic migrations were in some parts of macedonia and peloponnese only and they were few in number and fail to change the language of that region like they did in half europe from west poland to west slovenia and all the way to south bulgaria. if those slavs were capable to change the language of half continent, why did they fail to change the greek language?

  5. I T hink and  IAM SURE your refering to the diasporia or so called diasporia during  NASERS  time in egypt in 1952 when he came to power ..there was a huge diasporia of greeks from egypt way back then.in fact today there are in foreing lands where those people fled too .associations of .EX,GREEKS FROM EGPYT.naser virtually took or gave next to nothing to non muslims to make every thing nationalistic in egypt..in fact thier where stories of people hidding thier money in all sorts of places even when they where boarding the ships they where escaping with the egyptian authorities where inspecting each and every person before they boared lots of stories of gold jewllery taken from them.other than that there is no other diasporia from africa that i know off...ps..all though greeks  have been in egypt since the time of alexander the great as a comuniity..in fact at FAYIOM..in ancient egypt they found a whole city of greek mummies.. with unbeliveable and unmistakablwe greeks feature painted on the out side of thier coffins..you u ever see one you would swear this person is of todays greek population..the other greeks who eascaped to egypt where the the main greek army and its familys in during WW2..when the german occupation of greece took hold.. thats about it..any othergreek african diasporia would be a supprisse to me..

  6. Well, I couldn't find any references to Africans in Greece currently except in an immigrant status (particularly in Athens).  But historically, there seems to be some evidence for an African presence in Greece.  (Greeks in Africa is another story)

African Diaspora in the Indian Ocean by Richard Pankhurst  P. 199

The importance of the Ethiopian slave export trade, which constitutes the background to Hapshi history, was duly recognised by Alvares. He noted, of the 1520s, that Ethiopian slaves from Damot in particular were "much esteemed by the Moors", i.e. Muslims, and that "all the country of Arabia, Persia, India, Egypt, and Greece" was "full of slaves from this country". Such slaves, he says, "made very good Moors [i.e. Muslims] and great warriors".

TITLE: BLACK ATHENA WRITES BACK ----- MARTIN BERNAL RESPONDS TO HIS CRITICS

    AUTHOR: MARTIN BERNAL  ISBN#: 0-8223-2717-1   PRICE: $26.95

Martin Bernal responds to the passionate debates set off by the 1987 publication of his book Black Athena. Producing a shock wave of reaction from scholar, Black Athena argued that the development of Greek civilization was heavily influenced by Afroasiatic civilizations. Moreover, Barnal asserted that this knowledge had been deliberately obscured by the rampant racism of nineteenth-century Europeans who could not abide the notion Greek society ---- for centuries recognized as the originating culture of Europe ----- had its origins in Africa and Southwest Asia.

  10. The largest amount of Greeks in Africa are found in Alexandria, Egypt. Alexandria was named after Alexander the Great. The famous poet Cavafy was born there. Also the only Egyptian that ever won a Miss Universe pageant was of GREEK origin from Alexandria. The Greek community in Alexandria flourished in the 19th century although many had fled after 1950, the city still has plenty of Greek churches, Greek restaurants, cemetaries and parks, all of Greek designs.
