Can someone tell me about working on a cruise ship as a massage therapist... quality of life pay licensing etc

I think I might be interested in working on a cruise line as a massage therapist I have the kind of life that would allow me this type of living but I would like to know requirements how they pay how the licensing works like in the states contract signed, liveing conditions ... whatever info.. name of cruise line etc you could tell me would work great. Thanks

  1. The Spa and Entertainment Staff have the best jobs on the ship.  They are allowed to get off at ports and have much more free time-Room and Board are all included plus I believe they pay considerably well-plus you get tips!!!  Your cabin will be at the bottom of the ship and you will most likely share with another crewmember.  Crew quarters are very small- so probably wouldn't work if you are claustrophobic.  The spa staff sign contracts and often switch from ship to ship-so it's not necessarily a consistent job.


  2. I would say its a nice thing if youre a trained proffesional today. But I dont think that the cl would have your education paid just to hire you.

    And I must warn you: Working on ship is nothing like cruising on one. You are there to work and not to have fun in the sun. Youre also expected to work long hours while working since the normal routine is severel days at sea followed by the same amount at home. And thus you work alot while you are working.

    But for the people liking this kind of lifystyle it could be fun. But dont except it to be like cruising. Johan
