Can someone tell me how do i use free-cycle?

i have just been on to free-cycle and I'm so lost can someone tell me how do i get on and she what people are giving away please i am so lost lol.

On the homepage, click on "uk groups" then click on your region, then click on your nearest town/city, when you get on that page scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "sign up" you have to register to look at items or list them. Hope this helps!!

Are you registered with freecycle? When I started to use freecycle 2 years ago, you had to be registered to view and respond to what is being given away. Now my computer automatically logs me in, so I don't know if you have to be logged in or now.

To start, go to www.freecycle.org. Then type in your location. Choose your closest location on the list. Then at the bottom of the page, click "Visit the 'location' Yahoo!Group page". On the left side of the page, about halfway down, there is the selection of "Messages" or "Post". Click Messages to view what is being offered. Click Post to post a message.

If you see something you like, make sure you respond very quickly. I have both given and received items from this website. When I post something to be given away, I usually receive a number of responders within a few hours. It is up to you to choose who to give it to. Personally, I try to pick out the one who needs it the most (i.e-single mom for kids clothes). However, I will also choose the first one to respond sometimes too.

Have you joined a group yet? What you need to do is search for freecycle groups nearest to you. when you find them you will then click to open that group. Then click on the link that is to visit the group page. when it opens, on the right hand side you will see a blue block that say "Join this group" click on this & then you will have to fill in the required info. It may not get approved right away. sometimes the approval has to go through the group mediator for approval. once you are a member of the group you can then be able to see the message postings. Sometimes, depending on the group, you may have to post something for free before you can except any items. make sure to read all the rules and requirements. The regional groups are based on "Yahoo Groups" so you have to apply to join one before you can see the notice boards. Once you have you can post requests either for stuff you want or to advertise stuff you want to give away. You do this by sending an email to the forum address.
