Can someone tell me how guardianship work?

My friend would like me to have guardianship of her son if she passes away. But I am wondering if she can get me for child support if i was to do it and I am not the father?

No.  This has nothing to do with child support.  This has to do with wat will happen to a child if his mother dies.  I can't say don't be so cynical, because in this day and age, it ia always best to be cynical.  But again, don't worry about child support.  You do not have to accept guardianship if you do not wish to do so.  But, please inform her now so that she can make other arrangements.

  3. While she can put something in her will to the effect she wants you to be guardian of her child, it would still have to go through the courts at that time, and until then you have no legal obligations whatever to her or the child.
