  1. It depends . It usually takes 4-6 weeks to get your passport. However, some have gotten theirs in a week up to 2 months.

    The costs are listed below.

Take a look at this site...

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor...

If it is your first one ...

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fir...

    Renewal

    Under 16

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/min...

    Passport fees

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/fee...

    Routine Service (Form DS-11)

    Non-Refundable

      Application Fee Execution Fee Total

    Passport Book (Age 16 & Older) $75 $25 $100

    Passport Book (Under Age 16) $60 $25 $85

    Passport Card (Age 16 & Older) $20 $25 $45

    Passport Card (Under Age 16) $10 $25 $35

When applying at a Passport Agency, both the application fee and the execution fee are combined as one payment to the "U.S. Department of State."

When applying at an Acceptance Facility , pay the application fee to the "U.S. Department of State" and the execution fee to the facility where you are applying.

Routine Renewal by Mail (Form DS-82)

    Non-Refundable

       Total

Passport Book (Eligible adult applicants, see below) $75

Passport Card (Eligible adult applicants, see below) $20

Pay this fee to the "U.S. Department of State" as instructed on Form DS-82.

You may use Form DS-82 if your previous passport:

Was issued when you were 16 or older.

Was issued in the last 15 years.

    Is not damaged.

    Is submitted with your application.

    Expedited Service

    Add $60 for each application

Currently, the U.S. passport card is not eligible for Expedited Service.

Note: An application for a passport book and a passport card may be expedited, but the $60 fee will only serve to expedite the book at this time.  The pending production of your passport card, will not serve to delay the issuance and delivery of your passport book or the return of your citizenship evidence.

    Overnight Delivery

For any service (first-time application, renewal, additional pages, name change) to receive your passport as soon as possible, we strongly suggest that you arrange overnight delivery service for:

        1. Sending your passport application (See your overnight delivery service provider for fees)

                                AND

        2. Returning your passport to you (Add $14.85 for each application)

NOTE: Your overnight delivery service provider must be capable of delivery to a P.O. Box.

    Methods of Payment

When applying at one of our 14 Passport Agencies , both the application fee and the execution fee are combined as one payment to the "U.S. Department of State."

    Debit/Check cards (not ATM cards)

Checks (personal, certified, cashiers', travelers'), money orders (U.S. Postal, international, currency exchange), bank drafts

Note:  If abroad, U.S. Embassies and Consulates accept the foreign currency equivalent.  Check with the nearest Embassy or Consulate for guidance on accepted methods of payment.

When applying at an Acceptance Facility , pay the application fee to the "U.S. Department of State" and the execution fee to the facility where you are applying.

    For Passport Application Fee:

Personal checks, money orders, and bank drafts at all locations

Exact cash at some locations (verify with the Acceptance Facility)

Minors 15 and under are $60, + the $25 execution fee, and photo fee

Passports take about 4-6 weeks to process or you can expedite this service for an additional $60 and receive your passport in 3 weeks

For thoses  with Felony Conviction :

The pasport application asks nothing about convictions. The countries you visit may have restrictions, but getting a passport has none.
