  1. obviously you just s***w it up so its all knotted and dont ever wash

or comb it for like 5 years

but i wouldnt recomend it because you'll have lice and prob all

    roaches going in your hair

  2. First you need to put braids in your hair! To determine how you want them to look depends on the thickness of your braids, if your a guy you would want the braids thicker. Then take a shower daily and just let them ride.

  3. go to a hair place that specializes in them. www.yellowpages.com. let you hair get just a little way down your back for short dreds. then once you have them you DONT wash your hair forever until you get them out.

  4. knottyboy.com can definately help you

    they have starter kits

  5. Kelly's idea is the best one I've heard so far (if you're white).  I don't know if you're white or black because it DOES make a difference in this case.  My husband has dreads down to his butt and I twist them about once a week with Proclaim hair dress from Sally's.  You get a HUGE container for about $4.99. For white hair try the braids or go to a salon.  Also knottyboys website is pretty good too, I'm not sure how well their starter kits work, but I've used their other products on his hair.  You could also go to Sally's if there's one near you and ask someone who works there.  And yes you should still wash your hair and still take a shower.

  6. You can use a detoxifying shampoo or a clarifying shampoo which will dry your hair and help in locking.  You can either do two strand twists or use a small tooth comb and twist your hair into spirals.  Do not wash often and the less manipulation the better.

  7. shampoo? I thought the whole thing with dreds was not washing your hair, and not brushing it...... ♥

  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q1HPiEjr...

  9. yes.. take showers.. and wash your hair with soap, not shampoo. Also there is a product called KNOX it is a gelatin agent. people mix that and use it in thier hair to get it to stick together and dread.

knox is usually available at any grocery store in the JELLO section lol.

  10. dont wash your hair. NEVER BRUSH IT. let is get really matted and tangled

  11. for all the people who say you arent supposed 2 wash your hair YOU DO!! just not during the beginning of the process

  12. take some super glue and some string and glue it on your head...duh!!!

  13. Take a lock of hair, hold it at the bottom with one hand, with the other get a comb and pull up on the hair. And you dont wash your hair when you have dreads. It doesnt matter how long your hair is.

  14. use dr bronners liquid soap (not conditioner) for hair washing

    no need to twist

you could back comb or go natural (no brush or combing)

  15. Don't wash your hair. Don't take showers.

  16. ok first of all, you don't use a special shampoo to get dread locks dumb-***

you have to go to a hair salon to get it done... if you want what bob marley had, you have to not wash your hair at all

  17. ur hair should be at least 6 inches.. its better if its a bit longer tho.

Shampoo - Rehab from lush is great. Dr Bronners is also great, if you cant afford those, a cheap Tea Tree shampoo will work just aswel.

Methon - Its up to you really. Backcombing will create sections and then u will have more evenly sized locks, they will also form alot quicker then natual.  If you go natural you stop brushed and just wash and rip the locks apart into sections as they form, this mothod will take longer and will look messier for longer but is more respected by fellow dreadheads. long tearm tho... you will get simlar results.

Also DO NOT use wax or any simlar product on them. just wash them and leave them.

    Happy Knotting.

Also... you will not have to cut your hair off when u have had enough of them, i had mine for 3 years and a comb, some good conditioner and patiance will get ur streight hair back

  18. don't wash your hair, and it'll get greasy. twist strands of hair together and eventually they'll stay. you don't wash your hair, and you don't comb it.

    dreads are gross though...

  19. you need to grow your hair out first to a fairly long length. stop washing it, wear a shower cap if needed. back comb sections and it sounds gross but rubbing mud and/or honey in it should keep them healthy.

    hope i helped!

  20. backcombing is called teasing and it can help.  Dread locks are impossible to clean correctly and when you tire of them you will have to shave your head to get rid of them.  Also, if you contract lice you will have to shave.

  21. You can get dreadlocks professionally put in. They make each individual dreadlock on the spot.

Natural dreadlocks would take longer I imagine. Just don't brush your hair.
