  1. Take an external hard drive if you have big data size.Or take usb flash drive or dvd to write your important stuff. And you have back up now :-)

  2. A backup basically  consists of making it so that when your hard drive on your computer fails or is erased for some reason you won't lose all of your important documents.

This can be achieved in a number of ways some being better than others depending on the number and size of files you are trying to keep safe.

    1.  You can burn your files to a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray.

    2.  You can use an online storage solution like Mozy (https://mozy.com/registration/free), and upload your important files to that.

    3.  You can purchase an external drive such as an External Hard Drive, or a Flash Drive, and you can copy the files to that.

There may be other ways to do this, however these are fairly simple, and can be done by almost anyone.

Another thing to consider is getting software to do automatic backups.  I don't use it, but that's mostly because I just haven't had the time to find one that I like (and doesn't crash my POS computer).  If you don't then you want to make sure that you copy the files over to the backup format of your choice probably once a month or even weekly.

  3. I agree, use an external hard drive that is greater than the hard drive of your computer.

If you are using a windows based computer, you don't need a software to backup. Just go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Backup and follow their instructions. More information in the link below.

  4. use an external hard drive and use some software to backup stuff to it.

  5. Macrium Reflect Free is ( as you guessed) free; it will make a complete "mirror image" backup of your hard drive, including the operating system, programs, settings, videos, photos etc - attach an external usb drive or backup to dvd; you can also create a recovery cd if your laptop fails to boot - you can pop this into your laptop's cd drive, reboot your laptop and it will load macrium reflect in recovery mode - it will allow you to restore this "mirror image" so your laptop is up and running
