Can someone tell me how to work a roundabout PLEASE!?

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to use roundabouts?

I have been told 'use the left lane for turning left and straight on' and then 'only use the right lane for turning right - this being anything past 12 o'clock'

is this right?

  1. UCANTCME  gets this one.

Always use extra caution in roundabouts,  or traffic circles.   Act  as if you are the only one who has a clue,   most likely you are.   Be prepared for other drivers to do the unexpected.

  2. well you have the right idea. i suggest to go with a driving instructor who will teach you the basics. round abouts, you should give way to your right and if its a double lane roundabout, left is for turning left and going strait and the right lane is the same it depends on if the round about has a lane that is only for turning which you would figure out because it would have arrows on the road markd out. if you live in australia then id check out a website which is for victoria because i live in it all the best hope it helped you. Any way heres the website......   www.vicroads.vic.gov.au

  3. You shouldn't be on the road that late. You should be home in bed.

  4. Depends on where you live but here is one example.....................

Entering vehicles must yield to traffic already in the roundabout and to pedestrians in crosswalks.

Traffic in the roundabout always moves counterclockwise.

Choose your lane before entering; once in the roundabout, don't change lanes. Signal with your right turn signal before exiting the roundabout.
