  1. There is no standard for a 15m swim. That isn't a real event, and is somethign that I've never seen anyone timed in before. If you could maintain that speed for the shortest distance possible in competition (50m) you would do a 25.04 which is an ok time. Not good on a national level, but might get you a good placing in a dual meet. But chances are you won't be able to maintain that speed for over 3 times the distance you swam, so its really not that spectacular.

  2. Did you mean 7.51 seconds?  And where would you be timed for only 15 meters?

Your rate of speed is 1.997 meters per second which is world class speed.  If you were able to maintain that speed for 100 meters, your time would be 50.07 which would rank you in the top 100 in the world (rankings go only to 48th and #48's time is 49.44).

The 100 meter (long course) world record for men is around 47.5 seconds or 2.105 m/sec and for women the 100 meter (lc) world record is 53.52 or 1.868 m/sec.  So, you can see, based on the information you provided, your time is at a speed that would make you a world class swimmer.

  3. theres no record for 15 meters, official records are kept in 50 meters, 100 m, even 25m sometimes. The 15meters depends alot if its a dive.. The dive and the speed your at in the water after your dive can really mess up that time. However If you just pushed off the wall then its pretty good, depending on your age.

  4. Your time doesn't mean anything because it wasn't established in a sanctioned competition where rules regulating things such as starting block height and timing methods are enforced. I know that because the shortest event where records are kept is more than 3x the distance you swam (50 yards or meters). For all I know, you were being pulled behind a ski boat....

So, no, you're time isn't "good enough on a national level" because you're not covering the distance of even the shortest event. Keep up that pace for a whole 50 or 100 meters and we'll talk.

  5. OMG YES, i wish i could swin like dat .. LOLS ..

  6. it isn't national level, but it is pretty good. how old are you because your age might have different records

  7. Is that from a dive, or a push off, or a dead stop without pushing off?

If your time is from a dive it's not that good.  A swimmer is obviously a lot faster in the first few seconds after a dive.

If it's from a push off, 7.51 seconds is pretty good. You're not getting as much free speed as from a dive, so swimming speed is part of it.

If it's from a dead stop with no pushoff,  7.51 seconds is very good, but I wouldn't say world class.

Keep in mind that 15 meters is really short.  Even the shortest Olympic event is 50 meters.  So what matters is what speed you can sustain, whether it's a 50 meter sprint or 1500 meter long distance.   Just because you're the first person across the backyard pool doesn't mean you're quite ready to take on Ian Thorpe!  But maybe you could be if you practice...
