Question:

Can someone tell me if a MRCP and a MRI are the same thing?

I had a MRCP done to see if I still had stones in my bile duct. I have been having problems for 2 years since I had my gallbladder taken out, and it said everything was normal. And I was wondering if it was the same as a MRI. I have terrible pain where my gallbladder was sometimes. I just can't understand this and thought that maybe I should see a surgeon to get a MRI, with concentration on the liver, pancreas, bile duct and where my gallbladder was. All of my bloodwork and a CT scan also was O.K. I just don't know what to do next. My gastro MD called me in pamelor to take at night, and this is an antidepressant. I don't feel like I need this drug. I need to know what is causing this severe pain. Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated.

  1. Magnetic Resonance Cholangio    pancreato   graphy (MRCP)  is similar to MRI. But previously gall bladder and bile ducts were radiographed by injecting contrast dye. Now a special axial imaging focusses on gall bladder and bile ducts . Pain at the site of gall bladder site can be caused by a stone in  bile duct or infection in liver.
