Can someone tell me the hipster/trendy parts of Paris, France?

Hello,

I'm trying to plan a trip there sometime in the future and I don't know much about the city, other than what I've seen on TV. I've been to London and know about Camden Town, so if you live in Europe (or the UK), I'm trying to find an area in Paris like that.

Also, I'd be happy to take any general advice on Paris! Thanks everyone!

The trendiest part of Paris is probably the area around the Place de la Bastille and the new Opera.

But the fact is that the sociological map of Paris and of London are just way too different to make comparisons like the one you're trying to draw.

I'm just back from paris 2days ago , & i stayed in monmarte i traveled all round paris & i would say that is the best bit to go to the have lots of bars , cafes and boutiques if your into shoppin and also sacre cour we went there and its very touristy but if you get a taxi to the top be aware to pay double the money! They double the journey buy going through side streets and different roads even though you can see it from monmarte down the bottom,Also has metros everywhere that take you straight to les halles, eiffel tower etc.Have a great time

Well I dont live in europe but i did go to paris a couple years ago. I really enjoyed Montmartre and the surrounding area. Its located in the northern part of the city. You can go to Sacre Coeur which is this really beautiful church on top this huge hill. It's also the highest point in Paris and has an excellent view. They sell cups of wine for reallly really cheap. There is also this really great flea market in Montmartre... You take the metro to Porte de Clignancourt.

Montmartre is the unhippest place in Paris. It is full of package tour groups. The same goes for the Latin Quarter.

The closest to something like Camden is probably the Marais neighbourhood. Other hipster areas are Rue Oberkampf/Bastille, Canal St Martin and Batignolles.
