  1. Layer upon layer of self serving, inept dickheads unfortunately.

We have had the worst state governments in the history of Australia over the last decade.

  2. Yes well we have inherited all the worn out unionist in the Australian Labor Party (ALP). The Liberal Party and National Party which make up the Coalition are in opposition at the moment and have been for about 13 years. This is not because the ALP are brilliant but because the Liberal party are hopeless at getting re-elected. The National Party got an increase of three seats at the last election and the Liberal Party got a net gain of zero. The Labor Party lost five seat, two to independs and three to the he National Party.

We would love a change of government but don't seem to be able to get one. This is why one of the above commentors said that we have layer - upon - layer of hopeless dickheads. The state just seems to stagger from one crisis to the next. It is a disgrace as we deserve better. It is terribly disfunctional. There is just so much bureaucracy.

As to the structure of our government. There is a lower house called the Legislative Assembly. There is an upper house or house of review akin to a state senate in the United States. This is called the Legislative Council.

Members of the Legislative Assembly are called MLA's. Members of the Legislative Council are called MLC's.

All legislation must pass the lower house, the Legislative Assembly before being sent to the Legislative Councilors for perusal, review and approval ammendment if necessary. It will then either be passed by the Legislative Council or rejected.

All legislation is subject to the approval of the State Governor once it is passed by the Legislative Council. The State Governor is appointed by the government of the day. He/she is the representative of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Queen of Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Her Dominions beyond the sea of which Australia is one. Each state of Australia has it's own governor. The nation has a Governor General for Federal Government matters.

The present Governor of New South Wales is Professor Marie Bashir. She does not have a Europen bone in her body and is proud to descend from Lebanese Christain parentage. She is a wonderful lady and devotes he time to the welfare of young children and education when not involved in government business.

For a bit about the history of government in NSW. It is the oldest government in Australia. http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/prod/we...

You won't be able to do anything about government in NSW without Sir Henry Parks. He was the Father of Federation, that is the federation of Australia. He was also improtant to government in NSW.
