My Grandpa used to sing this all the time. I can not write it correctly but I know it means Oh my Augulstine , everything is lost, everything is gone

I also remember a part of the song that talks about a place he compared to Times Square NYC.

It starts Oct ta lieben Augulstine Augulstine Augulustine sfec

:

Oct ta lieben Augulastine, Aululsine sfec.

If I can get the German lyrics, though I'd like the english translation.

Please email me if you think you can get it I have a track of my Grandpa singing it. And I can send it to you.

Thanks in advance

  1. HI,

    check this one:

    http://ingeb.org/Lieder/achdulie.html

Here you´ll find the lyric in german and in english.

In my opinion it´s a great translation.

    Have fun!

  2. Ach, Du lieber Augustine, Augustine, Augustine

    Ach, Du lieber Augustine,

    Alles ist hin.

"Oh, my dear Augustine, Augustine, Augustine

    Oh, my dear Augustine,

    All has been lost"

    ----------

I do not know the rest of the lyrics although I am familiar with the melody.

I will be able to send you lyrics in both German and English if you email the audio track. Please use the contact email on my website as I do not like to get mail through here.
