Can someone tell me what's buridan's donkey is?

Buridan's donkey is a character invented (by some french philosopher)to illustrate that living beings can't make decisions absolutely freely. The logic was the following: a donkey would die of hunger if it couldn't choose between two exactly similar stacks of hay. But in reality donkeys don't die, so there is a supernatural force which influences their decisions. Sometimes a person who can't make a choice is jokingly called Buridan's donkey
