  1. Wisteria is a "woody" vine.  Meaning that over time it will develop a woody trunk.  However the growing ends will still look like vines, and not too much like an apple tree.  The green tips of the growing Wisteria's branches will usually be long, and somewhat whip-like, possibly twining around anything they can reach.  Not much foliage is clustered at the growing tips.  Wisteria foliage is compound, that is, with a petiole coming off the main stem that holds a number of opposite leaflets.  The foliage can be glossy.  Perhaps you could Google an image that would include leaves?

I've had mine for about 3 1/2 or 4 years never has bloomed.  My neighbor down the street and a 40 foot fence lined with blooming wisteria.  I'm patient though.
