Lately she has been really clingy. Literally. She will claw her way up my shoulder and just sit there. And she does this weird thing that when I pet her on her chest she will take my hand with her paws, pull it close and then bite me softly. I am not sure what that means. And she will meow on top of me and my fiancee until I get up and then she will meow when I leave. =/ A little help please? I'm not sure if it is a dominant thing, or her way of saying she wants to be close to me.

  1. haha she's a kitten. they have non stop energy you need to PLAY WITH HER!!

she's obviously telling you this or trying to at least that's what the meowing is for!

lasers are great with kittens! :)

  2. She is just needing some attention. Even though most people say cats are independent...mine are NOT! I have 2 cats sitting on my computers desk now. She is discovering who her momma and daddy are and she wants to spend time with you. The kitten needs held a lot, and she will want to play a lot too. My cats are 10 and they still like to play...and they always want held or some kind of affectionate attention. Just love her and she will reward you greatly.

  3. dude one  thing i have to tell you and its this the cat like you big time

  4. She probably wants to play. If you already play with her a lot already maybe something else is wrong. Were you gone for awhile lately? I know my cat did the same thing when we got back from a week vacation. He didn't want us leaving again! Or possibly something is wrong and she is trying to lead you to something. Just try following her and playing with her more and she'll hopefully stop doing this. GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps! :)

  5. Usually kittens do climb on you, my cat did that for a while, and she used to bite me softly to when i petted her chest, but dont worry she is just playing and getting used to it when shes older she will stop doing, my cat loves it now and when i come home she will role on her back and want me to pet her.

Have you been away on holiday, or been away for a few days?? If so thats probably why shes meows at you. When i went on holiday and got back my cat wouldnt leave me alone and kept meowing too.

But if not, its probaly because shes young, or she might be hurt.

  6. She wants to play

    Diary:

    Day 183 of my captivity...

My captors continued to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from clawing the furniture. Tomorrow, I may eat another house plant.

Today, my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded - must try this at the top ofthe stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair - must try this on their bed.

Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body in an attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear in their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.

There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More important, I overheard that my confinement was due to my powers of inducing "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.  I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches.

The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit.

The bird, on the other hand, has got to be an informant and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured. But I can wait; it is only a matter of time

  9. Your kitty just wants to be close to you.  She likes to sit on your shoulder so she can be near your face where she can feel you breathe and look at you talk to her.  The meowing while you're with your fiance is also an attention-seeking behavior.  Kitties like to lay together just to be close, so when she sees you and your fiance cuddling, she wants in on it.  The soft biting is a grooming behavior.  My own cat does this and we call it "love bites." Grooming is a sign of affection.  Cats rarely do it to humans, so you are lucky your kitty loves you so much!

Dominance behavior on the other hand usually includes urinating outside the litterbox to mark territory.  However, if you ever notice your cat not going in the box, always assume first that there is something wrong with the box: too dirty, litter texture, unsafe-feeling location, etc.  Cats rarely exert dominance unless their territory is disrupted by another animal (you bring a new pet home), or there has been a big change in routine  (you get a new job with different hours, new baby etc).

If your kitten's attention-seeking behaviors annoy you, please do not punish or ignore her.  The best way to get your kitty to stop being clingy when you don't want it is to give her extra TLC at times that are convenient for you. A good play session would be a good way to create a bond  (you'd be playing the mom-kitty role by having her practice her "hunting skills") and to tucker her out.  Keep in mind that she is still a baby.  Someday she will grow up to be her royal highness with much less need to mingle with her human servants.
