Can someone tell me what it is like to live & work in Moncton.

I'm from Moncton, but I haven't worked professionally there as of yet.

I would describe Moncton as a growing city, with more and more attractions...The housing market has boomed, but don't be afraid, its not as expensive as Halifax!

Many areas in the city core have very nice neighbourhoods and are very convenient... Apartments aren't that expensive, if you're not looking to buy a house, and a lot of new apartment buildings have come up in recent years. Most houses in these areas will be about 200 000 for a typical 3 bed 2 bath. However, I'm not familiar with the few subdivisions in Moncton. There are many options when it comes to buying a home there...

If you already have a job lined up, then you should be set! We have a few theatres there, along with weekend markets, great antiquing, close beach proximity, provincial and national parks nearby, and pretty decent shopping. Nova Scotia and PEI aren't far either...

Big concerts have been hitting Moncton lately, like the Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Micheal Buble, etc.

If you don't have work lined up yet, lets hope you're very marketable...The job hunting itsn't so great in this area. There are few jobs available in the government (but I live in Ottawa now, so the comparison is maybe biased) but there are lots of restaurants, call centers, hospitals (and cancer research), universities (English and French), and many independantly owned shops. Most of my family are entrepreneurs..

The social life for a 20 something is typical, there is a small pub scene on main street (about 10 classy places) along with a few clubs. A casino is also being built in the near future.

Overall, Moncton is a pretty good place to live..and if you want a change then Halifax and Montreal are perfect places to roadtrip for the weekend.
