Can someone tell me what planet is brightly lit in the south eastern sky right now?

  1. That would be Jupiter my friend.  If you have a pair of binoculars you can possibly see the four largest moons around it.  Hope this helps.


  2. Where you are and your local time help when asking this. But it will be Jupiter if it's bright and non-twinkling.

    This is great freeware you can download.  Tell it where you are and it will tell you what you see.  

    It is jupiter that you see.

  8. It is Jupiter indeed! I'm like you Jim, I've been wondering too for weeks on what's that bright object shining in the sky - between South and South West - looking from San Jose, California.

    Thanks B.! This Stellarium freeware program is a cool program indeed. I've known about a very cool program called Starry Night, but it's too much for my packet.
