  1. the most common is cephalexin.i had UTI when i was pregnant and my GP prescribed it to me, very safe especially to pregnant women. drink plenty water and cranberry juice.

  2. More than likely it'll be septra or some generic form of it.  It contains sulfur so if you're allergic to that they'll get you something else.  I'd ask for an prescription of diflucan as well because the antibiotics may give you a yeast infection.  Feel better!

  3. I had a UTI earlier this month and they prescribed Macrobid, which I think it's pretty common.  The sooner you get to the doctor though, the better.  They might do multiple tests and treat you with multiple antibiotics though, it just depends on what your cultures look like.

They generally just do a urine test and might poke around your stomach to make sure there's not anything that is bothering you as far as accute organ pain goes.  But the urine test will tell them all they need to know.  There won't be any pelvic exam or anything like that.

I too, hope this will be your last, but it probably won't.  They're really common in pregnant women.  Best way to avoid them is if you're sexually active (or just masturbatory active...) is that you pee after EVERY time of having s*x to flush out any bacteria that's been pushed up in your urethra.
