  1. department of housing usually doesn't have enough houses for everyone - so there is a waiting list.  they can help with emergency housing, but this is usually short term.

you can also try Salvation Army, st Vincent DePaul, and some of the other church organisations.

you can also find work in the country.  Ask about seasonal work, as accommodation is sometimes provided.  this work can be picking fruit and vegetables or simillar.

    good luck

  2. try mission australia

    xo

  3. To answer your specific question, public housing is in extremely short supply in every state and it's unlikely that you would get anything straight away. The Salvation Army or one of the other charities may be able to assist, but it would only be for the short term. It's up to you to get work and look after yourself.

There are many thousands of Australian students with no parents to help them and who must work to make ends meet. There are heaps of part time jobs throughout Australia and if you try, you will be able to find one without looking for handouts. If you are a student on Youth Allowance, it's not much, but it's enough to live on if you live very simply and share accomodation. I know quite a number of YA recipients without any parental support and they manage with a part time job to supplement the allowance. If you're not a citizen or PR and don't qualify for Youth Allowance, I'd be very interested to hear your reasons why you think Australian taxpayers should support you. If your family is in the USA and Asia, perhaps you should go back to them, or at least ask them to help you.

  4. There's a very long list for public housing, many people wait years to get a subsidised house or flat.

Are you a permanent resident of Australia?  You must be if getting social security payments, although I find it odd if you have no family here.  And if you get social security payments you also regularly attend a Centrelink office.  Next time you're in Centrelink, ask to see one of their social workers who can then tell you what your options are.

  5. Well you wont get a place through Dept. of housing. I would suggest you go to Salvation Army, and ask for help and also Centre Link may also help you find accommodation...

  6. seems like your very confused in your questions you ask about moving to the USA then you ask about moving to Canada

are you a permanent resident in Australia or on a student visa?

if you are not a resident of Australia the government will not help you ,your supposed to support yourself while studying
