Can someone tell me why I am seeing bright spots and smoke?

I had my eyes checked and had to get glasses. I am wearing them all the time and they have helped. But in the past few months I have started seeing floating bright spots and clouds of smoke. Very weird. My eye doctor can't see me for another few weeks. What is it I am seeing? I can't find anything on the internet about it.

You need to see an eye doctor ASAP. You could be having a detached retina which requires treatment ASAP.
