well, there are a lot of weird names out there. who knows, in a couple years Thumbelina may be up there with Emily and Ava, etc.

i know a girl named Evalina, and it always reminded me of Thumbelina, but i think Evalina is pretty.

I know a little girl whose middle name is Thumbelina,she was premature and the doctors said she would not make it,her mum and dad started calling her their little Thumbelina. Against the odds she fought to live so her parents thought Thumbelina would be a very special middle name for her. I think it is a lovely name and very touching.

it might be more acceptable in other cultures where they don't have that fairy tale.

also there are many other names that are 10 times worse than thumbelina.

I think it is in the baby book because Thumbelina was tiny and babies are tiny, whoever put it in there must think that is a good reason.

Because someone who didn't know the story and heard it and thought it was beautiful and named their daughter Thumbelina.  The same sort of person who would name their daughter Chylamidia because it does sound exotic and pretty and is, in fact, a socially transmitted disease.
