3 ANSWERS

  1. 1.  decreasing the agricultural land

    2.  increasing the population

    3.  natural disasters

  2. For gas, it's a combination of issues, most of which center around the fear of something.  One is the concern about the supply.  It's a finite resource, and those who trade oil are worried we may have already found it all.  Another is the fear of hurricanes causing supply line disruptions.  Another is the threat of military action in the gulf causing supply line disruptions.  And a main one is speculators who want the price to go higher, as they make more money that way.

As the fears go up, so does the price of oil.

As for food, there are two main reasons price has gone up.  The first is that the price to ship the food has gone up due to the spike in gas prices, and the distributors are passing the cost on to the business, who are passing it on to the consumer.  The second reason is that as the bio-fuel kick gains momentum, the demand for corn has risen.  The price for corn has risen in return, and a LOT of our food is made from corn, or has corn in it.  What we should have done with bio-fuels is to have used cane sugar.  It's better for making bio-fuels, and wouldn't have spiked the food costs nearly so much.

  3. It is simply because the people who control the supplies have increased prices in order to get more money fom everyone.
