Can someone tell what type of fish this was?

I was wading through a natural pond and I saw a small green and yellow fish that kind of looked like a puffer fish. It was about 2-3 inches long. Can anybody tell me what it was?

probably some sort of darter.

ah, sc....then definately a native fish, like a darter....it could of looked like a puffer if it just ate a big meal. or maybe the reflection played tricks on you.
