i never heard and saw this idiom. i checked diction but cant find this idiom.

i understand he, scott someone, want to say first character means live and second one means now. but this idion doesnt exist in japan.

kyou no tame ni ikite

is probably better.

Well, the version I know is a lot longer.

今日のために生きる

Live for today.

But I don't know if I'm right.

The characters are understandable but not a common Japanese expression. Here's my suggestion:

今を生きる (ima wo ikiru)

That means like, "seize the day," or "live in the present moment." If you saw the 1989 movie, Dead Poet Society, it will help you understand the meaning of the phrase I gave. 今を生きる is actually the localized title of that film when it was released in Japan.
