A 1.2436 g sample of an unknown nonelectrolyte is dissolved in 10.9303 g of benzophenone and produces a solution that freezes at 43.2 degrees Celsius. If the pure benzophenone melted at 48.1 degrees Celsius, what is the molecular weight of the unknown compound? The Kf for benzophenone is 9.8 degrees Celsius/m.

The answer I got was 227.34918...can anyone double check this answer for me please?? Thanks!

  1. delta T = 4.9 °C

    4.9 = 9.8 x m

    m = 0.50 = moles solute / 0.0109303 Kg

    moles solute =0.005465

    molar mass = 1.2436 g / 0.005465 mol = 227.6 g/mol
