Someone, let's say a friend, has come upon a good deal of money, yet he has found himself in an unusual quandary: although independently wealthy, he'd like to return to work at McDonald's. Could he go back to work at McDonald's and simply volunteer his time without pay?

  1. LoL. Why not volunteer at the hospital or somewhere like that?

  2. If I came into a ton of money but still wanted to work, I'd probably pick a place where the employees don't seem dead on the inside.

  3. yah if they want you there. but if you want to volunteer go to a school!!

  4. well u could volunteer to like pic up and clean up and stuff like that without getting paid but they would probably want to be generous and give u money for the hard work !!!

  5. even if he has alot of money. why would you want to volunteer at mcds! go volunteer for something good like an animal shelter!

  6. Why not volunteer at a place that "NEEDS" people, ie. Habitat for Humanity, your local animal shelter, feed the hungry, help the needy, visit elderly, anything but volunteer at McDonalds!!!! Please!!!!!

  7. Why would anyone volunteer at a multimillion dollar corporation?   Better to volunteer at a soup kitchen.

  8. LoL

  9. It would be against the law.   A company can't have volunteer employees unless it is a charitable organization with a tax-deductible status.

But, secondly, if your friend loves McDonald's so much and suddenly has a lot of money, why doesn't your friend buy a franchise.  You know each individual McDonald's is an independently owned franchise that just pays dues/fees, etc, to the mother company to operate business under the McDonald's name.

If your friend doesn't have enough money to buy a McDonald's franchise, then he should "wake up and smell the coffee" and go back to work.  Young folks these days always think they are a millionaire when they've got two $1000 bills to rub together.  Ridiculous!

  10. send him to work at the niles ohio mcdonalds. they need help there.

  11. call and ask

  12. Why not get paid and donate the check to charity or better yet do volunteer work at a local food shelf...

  13. He could go back to work at McDonalds and then donate to a charity that needs money, or buy food for local food bank, or help out habitat for humanity, or buy supplies for no kill animal shelters.....or donate time there.  Shame some of the people who answered are so rude with answers.....maybe he could open his own business......many things he can do with the money,  or just save it, you never know when you will need it......I know we do.....

  14. i dont think so but they should check with the manager

  15. This friend CANNOT volunteer at a store like McDonalds... it's not an organization that recognizes volunteers to work there.  To be employed you need to be on the payroll.

And this person would be ignorant to want to volunteer there when there are so many not-for-profit organizations that are in desparate need of volunteer staff!!!!!

  16. Well, one wonders if you're serious here, but let's assume so.

I believe that there might be some liability or workers comp issues related to you volunteering in the restaurant.  But, a franchisee may be interested in having an unpaid intern working with them in the administrative side of the organization.

But if you are truly in this position, and want to work in food service why don't you try a shelter kitchen, or meals on wheels type organization.

  17. I am sure they can or just give their paycheck when they get it to charity

  18. that would b stupid and a waste of time

  19. no why would you want to vollunteer? if you can get paid then get paid!

  20. yes - I do it all the time - also, one time I ate a biscuit and didn't accept any money in exchange
