Can someone walk me though burning incense?

put it in a insense holder or wedge it in a hole or something

If its cone incense, put it in a holder and light it.  Blow out the flame and you will notice it will leave a trail of smoke.  That's what is creating the aroma.  If its the stick kind, insert the wooden end in the holder, which will make the stick lean at an angle.  Light it, blow it out and you will see a trail of smoke on that kind too.  If you are using the stick kind, make sure its secure in the holder.  You don't want it to fall and burn something.

Buy some incense.

Light the tip.  If it's the long stick kind, put it in a holder (or a pot of sand, etc. so it's angled a little.  If it's the cone type, put it in a bowl, etc.  Blow out the flame, let it smoke.

knck the ashes from insence into your hand
