Can someone who has been hired as a supervisor higher in all their friends?

I've been working now for 4 years in a office. Two years ago the boss hired this girl who then started bringing in all her high school friends. They have this group their call the 6pack their like a gang. Anyway, 6 month after her friend was hired she was promote to an assistant with a raise. Let's just say these girls are not nice people. They love the control and use it at every turn. They do little work, talk about themselves what they do on the weekend look at my space and face book, talk to their groupies on their cells, you get the picture. The best friend and now assistant sells drugs at work. Another girl who wanted her to stop selling drugs to her friend who has a drug problem confronted her on a break and told her she wanted her to stop selling drugs to another girl at work because she had a drug problem. My (the drug dealer) assistant supervisor told her in front of another emp. from our dept that if she told anyone she would kick both their asses. Now, she came in and told the supervisor her friend what happen who went to our boss who ended up having a meeting with her and she told him she wasn't selling pot to her just giving it to her. Nothing was done. When I applied for another dept I was told I didn't have the experience for the job. And because I had problems was not given the job. I have never been written up for anything. You see I am the oldest emp. in the dept. I go to work do my job go home. The boss and the super have had some personal encounters if you know what I mean. I want to know If its legal for someone to bring in their friends as emp. do to the fare hiring act. Now I want to know why no action was taken and why so many of her friends have been brought in by her. I've been threaten by them and no they asked me what kind of car my spouse drive. My plan is to tell the owner whats been going on and that I have been threaten. Believe me I'm not afraid of them at all there punks but I do want to know why nothing has been done about whats going on their and why the manager is covering it up. Yes, I plan on getting another job but I must say they need to go down.

First off, I don't think there's really anything illegal about hiring your friends. Fair hiring practices aside, it's still up to the employer's discretion. I think the fair hiring practice has more to do with the hiring of different ethnic groups and men/women equality, etc, rather than dealing with hiring friends. HOWEVER, the fact that the supervisor is in possession of illegal drugs is something you can have something done about. In this case, as the manager is covering, go above their heads. Go to the owner, tell them that contraband substances are being sold on company premises during company paid hours, and that management is covering up. Also tell the owner about the threats.

If they still don't do anything about it (or fire you for it, which you can then go the the labour board and sue for unfair dismissal), you then have grounds to go to the police and have the lil miscreants sent to lockup for possession. You can also tell the police all about the threats. They'll add that to the case against them.

I don't have the patience or energy to wade through your verrrrrry long paragraph, but if you are asking "can" they, of course they can.

The longer term question is, can the department function to the expected level if staffed this way. If the answer is yes, then no one has any gripe. If the answer is no, then the supervisor's boss will eventually have to rectify things.
