I am currently on a band 7 working a 37.5 hour week and earning £33,000 a year. I want to work on a band 8a doing 28 hours a week and earning £37,000 a year (this is a job I am considering hence why I know the details). Can someone tell me how much my wage would drop per month if I dropped my hours from 37.5 to 28 considering that my wage would increase slightly please. Many thanks.

  1. If you are now making 33000 a year for 37.5 hours a week you are making 2750 a month. changing to 37000 a year for 28 hours a week will increase your monthly pay to 3083. This is 333.3 more a month, but remember that it is 9.5 less hours a week, which is a big increase in pay for less hours. The 37000 a year for 28 hours a week is a far better deal. But my experience is to always go with what you enjoy doing and not the pay.
