  1. My sister in law is using it for her 3 girls ages 9, 6, and 4 and they love it and it works for them.

I unschool and my Daughter doesn't do well with that type of thing. I say try it out and see if it will work for you. Some children are cut out for that type of learning and others aren't.

  2. i started using them this year and i love it.

    Pros to using it is

-you get done with school earlier

-you can make up days really easy if you    are forced to miss a day.

    -i've really learned alot

-the parent doesn't have that much to do.

    -you have freedom using it.

    Cons to using it is

    -it is alot harder

    -there is alot of homework

i'm a sophmore in high school, and i've been going to public school. The public schools in our area aren't that great, so i decided to homeschool. I chose this program because i have alot of freedom in doing it. My mom doesn't do very much, she grades my tests and stuff but doesn't actually have to teach me. I just put the dvd's in myself. It is alot harder and alot more work than my old public school. but i love it. I also love that i get done at like 12:30 or 1:00 everday. And some days i have something to do so i can't do school, but i make up the day within 2 days. But i hope this helps!

  3. I have friends that love this program, I have nothing against the curriculum itself as it is one of the better ones, what I do not like is that the DVDs are not yours but rentals and must be returned. if you do not have a problem with returning them each year then they are great.

I use "Switched On Schoolhouse", it is computer based and works great on a network too, and as I am homeschooling 2 close in age I can reuse the software later. However I do not use their on-line school as I have another I prefer.

  4. I use the them! Well as far as the pros and cons go...I can't really think of any, but I have 2 sisters that used them for all 4 years of high school, 1 graduated from Oral Roberts University with a 3.8 GPA, and the other is in her senior year with a 4.0 GPA at Oral Roberts University. so I guess it does something right. I'm in my junior year of high school and I've used them for the past 3 years. I hope this helps!

  5. I've had relatives and friends who have used this program and this is what they'd say:

    Cons:

    --cost

    --rigidity

--wasted time as students are answering questions and such

    Pros:

    --excellent education

    --USUALLY the kids love it

    --easy to use

--since it is filmed in a classroom, the student watching will feel like he is part of a classroom and will enjoy the other students that are being filmed

--the teachers are the master teachers there at PCA

Many people who start out with this will eventually end up thinking, "Man, I could teach that faster to my child," so will start teaching one subject at a time till the day is shorter but the parent has taken up a lot of her time and the DVD's are a waste.  I don't know many people who use this year after year.  If your child is learning to read or is in high school, I'd think it would be a better choice.
