Can someone who plays the xylophone be good at the piano if they practiced?

I play the xylophone, and every piece I have learned I can play on my brother's piano.

Is it possible for me to play the piano? I know all the notes and I taught myself how to play my xylophone pieces on it. I do not have any private lessons since my xylophone is for my school band classes.

  1. Of course! Piano and Xylophone are in the same family of instruments. They're pretty much the same thing. As you probably already know, the black keys are the same as the raised bars on the xylophone, and the white keys on the piano, are the bars closest to you on the xylophone. I'm sure piano is more challenging, as you have 5 fingers to play notes, rather than one or 2 mallets. I've never seen someone use 5 mallets on each hand for a xylophone!

So, good luck at piano, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up.

  2. no that would be completely out of the question it is impossible.
