If I am a voice-over artist, will a talent agency not represent me if I have a felony? I live in Michigan. Is it asked on the application? Will a radio station ever hire me as a producer?

  1. Isn't that what you are doing, right now?

    . . .

I don't know, and speaking to an attorney of employee rights would be better than asking some Yahoo.

  2. No.

  3. I think Marve Alpert did . He was a sportscaster . And whoever mentioned G. Gordon Liddy was correct . He has a show on XM radio daily .

  4. Depends on what the felony is for

  5. Go to Oakland.  Ron Dellums (the mayor of Oakland) is hiring felons in an effort to bring down crime.

For some vicodin I will put in a good word.  Vicodin.......yummy.

  6. chances are slim to none, sorry

  7. A felony does not bar you from working in broadcasting, but it will make it more difficult to find work. Last time I checked, G. Gordon Liddy is doing just fine in the biz.

  8. Depends on the felony and the company, there have been plenty of felons working in broadcasting, especially in talk radio. If your felony involves something work related, good luck, if it was selling pot, you're probably okay. If it was murder, h**l it'll proabably give you a better shot.

Your best bet though is to get into commercial voice over. Start by calling local recording studios and ask if they do commercial work. If they do ask them where they hire their voice over talent. They may allow you to send them a tape.

    Good luck!

  9. the felony depends because of this felony was a certian crime of murder or tricking the sucurity of diffrent sorts of crimes

  10. Are you under the first offenders act? Under this act you never have to reveal your crime and laws protect you as well. I am a convicted felon under this act. I never have to check yes on any app or explain myself. Even if they do a background check, they would never find it. I don't see why having a felony would stop you from doing what you want to do. If it does, it is discrimination and you sue them pronto. I would not of course try to work at a bank and such. It all really depends on what field you are going for. Good luck!
