I'm looking for someone named Michal (or possibly Michael) Szewczyk. He was born in Kozlow, Galicia (which is either part of Poland or Ukraine right now) in the year 1879. he had 4 children, 3 of whom were born in the United states (the fourth is Canadian.) he immigrated first to Pennsylvania and then moved to Canada. Can anyone with a membership at ancestry.com (or ancestry.ca) help me find any documents relating to him, or someone in his family? I would sign up for the free trial, but i dont have a credit card. thanks so much!

  1. Hello,
I am Terry Noble (born 1950) living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I am looking for my family roots.  I do know the following:

My father's name was Michael Saltchuk (born 1912) to Peter Shewchuk (born 1884 as Peter Szewczuk) and Eudocia Sorochan (born 1848).
Peter emmigrated to Canada from Zalischyky, Ukraine in 1906 or 1907.
Eudocia Sorochan was born to Andrij Sorochan and Olena Ilkew.
Peter Shewchuk was born, in Zalishchyky, to John Szewczuk (born 1828) and Eudocia Stasiuk (born 1848).
Eudocia Stasiuk was born to Michael Stasiuk and Maria Boyczuk.
John Szewczuk (born 1828) to Basil Szewczuk and Eudocia Anna Czowhan.

I believe that Basil and Anna lived in the village of Pechirna in the Zalishchyky district of Ternopil Oblast.
Basil Szewczuk may have been named Vasyl Shevchuk or Vasil Szewczyk? and Anna Czowhan may have been named Anna Chovgan.

It seems that my ancestors may have come from the East Galicia (Ukraine) or West Galicia (Poland).

    Zalishchyky, Zaleszczyki (Polish name), Zaleshchiki.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated and I will forever be in your debt.

    Thank you,
Terry Noble (Saltchuk, Shewchuk, Szewczuk, Szewczyk, Shevchuk, Szewczyk)
