  1. ADHD, something I SUFFER with along with ADD should not stop you from adopting. What are they going to do if you have a biological child? Take it away from you? The only thing that would MOST LIKELY stop you is  if you were a pedophile, or had some mental illness like Down Syndrome.

  2. While I can't give you an answer that is completely accurate, I don't know how a mild case of ADHD would ever be enough to disqualify someone.  There are so many people that live with it as adults that were never diagnosed in the 1st place.

  3. no

  4. If it doesn't prohibit you from functioning on a normal level, it shouldn't be a problem. What they are looking for is someone who will provide a stable and nurturing home. People with ADHD are perfectly capable of that! I know because I'm married to one!

  5. Carynn is right & adoptionsick is wrong/lying (as will the rest of her gang of thumbs down trolls). Yes, you can adopt. I wish you and your future child the very best!

  6. Well, there are some foreign countries that might not look too favorably on it, but I don't think it would disqualify you.  One important thing to know, about foreign adoption anyway (that's the only experience I have) is that they only know what's in your homestudy.  For your homestudy, you have to have a Dr. fill out a form checking off medical conditions, but if your social worker for your homestudy doesn't think mild ADHD is worth including, then no one need be the wiser.  Talk to your homestudy person about it, and hopefully they will just not mention it.

  7. It depends on what your medical history looks like. If there were ever any problems that caused you to be temporarily disabled due to your ADHD and unable to take care of a child, then adoption agencies may make it harder for you.
