  1. sure sounds like your homework assignment.

"How can science be applied to address the issue of climate change?"

CO2 causes warming.  science determined that.  what needs to be done is (A) remove the excess CO2 from the atmosphere, and (B) stop adding more.  science has to answer both questions.

"What can we do about the effects of climate change?"

which effects?  drought?  better manage water.  storms?  improve our building codes, and improve our storm infrastructure.

  2. As yet, you can't do anything.

I don't believe the garbage you hear everyday about Global Warming, but besides the evidence that I see that tells me it isn't a problem or isn't happening... consider this..

Look up how many barrels of oil we use everyday for domestic energy use. Now sure, we can reduce those barrels through solar, wind, not sure if America has any great geo-thermal sources, there's nuclear, Bio-reactors, green construction of buildings, etc, etc, But by and large the problem isn't that easy.

The building of green buildings only reduce energy consumption by 30% or so, that still means your burning 70%. By and large an improvement and reduction of dependency, but not by such a significant amount that it will change much...because these will only be the "new" buildings. Unless cities across America decide to start a massive demolision movement, the benefits are sparce.

Nuclear ? sure, its an abundant source of energy, but the same enviro-whacko's that oppose anything that isn't natural also don't like Nuclear power. Which kind of tells you that they aren't really fronts for the enviroment, but are actually socialist that really don't want America to be independant and a strong nation. Some fo these kooks have even admited that  saving the planet or animals isn't their prime objective.. It is their objective to force their policies and stop America from  drilling or exploring for energy.

Then you have solar and wind, perhaps a good idea on paper, but where will we use it ? Think of the vast amounts of real estate to build on, and the transmission of power from remote locations to towns and cities. Not to mention the budget to keep the panels clean or the mechanics in the windmill well greased up. You'll probably have to protect these wind farms or solar farms from whacko's that just like to go out and destroy things. How you going to stop some freak from sitting on the hilltop and shooting solar panels out....all because his wife left them, or what every whacky reason that might come up.

Even if we met all the old stated requirements of Al Gore himself, the effect was dismal. It would make little to no change what so ever.

So, in the end assessment, there's not much we can do to change anything climatically. We are so limited in our understanding of the climate we have no clue and no proof if man kind even has a significant impact on it.

So there's no use in worrying over something you can't control. That isn't to say we should trash the planet or be wasteful. I believe in conservation. I just don't believe with all the progress we have made in cleaning up the air and water that we need to bow knee to a bunch of radical whacko enviromentalists that preach nothing but doom and gloom but they want to get rich out of turning your life upside down with taxes, rising costs of living and policy.
