    Let's make it a little easier. Do you know what -4(3x^2y) would be? How about -4(3)? You have to multiply what's on the outside to what's on the inside, term by term. So, start with -4x^2y(3xy^2): you have -4 times 3, and x^2 times x, and y times y^2. Right there, you can already select the correct answer. To actually solve the whole thing, you'd move to your next term: -4x^2y(-2x^4). Then to your third term: -4x^2y(y).

    For question 2, what is the area of a rectangle? length times width. So, they are asking you to solve

    (2x^2y + 3xy^2)(x^2y^2).
