Could not a sound frequency be seen using a sound + constant x that would bring it up to vision range?

  1. Not the same phenemenon - sound is air compession, light is electromagnetic.

  2. Like the other posters have mentioned, light and sound are two completely different phenomena.  Light is an electromagnetic wave, or looking at it on a quantum level is a photon which is a type of massless particle.  Sound is a longitudinal (compression) wave in a medium and the particles of the medium move back and forth, there is no net movement of particles once the wave has passed (they return to the rest position).  In the case of an EM wave (light) there is a net movement of particles (photons).

  3. no, not with optics.
