  3. i would think so, because salt is used as a preservative, and soy sauce is 85% salt i think it would work good.

  4. The base of soy sauce is soy beans with an unhealthy amount of salt added to the mixture.  It is used as a preservative in many meat dishes (i.e. yerky).  It is also used in Japan for curring fish.
