Question:

Can speakers damage LCD TVs?

Hi, I recently bought a 32" Samsung LCD TV, and I was just wondering if placing my 2 speakers and subwoofer too close could damage the console.

The reason I ask is I had to take the first one back as it stopped working. I had the speakers set up while I was using the first one, but took them away before I set up the second one.

They sit about a foot below the TV itself. Is this likely to have damaged it? I don't want to break another one :s

Thanks in advance

  1. LCDs are not affected by magnetic fields like the old CRT (picture tube) sets were.  The magnet in the speaker will not do any harm to an LCD.

If your first set was LCD, any failure in your old set most probably had nothing to do with speaker placement.

  2. yea it could but try to put it

away from the tv like far from the tv ok

    this same

    problam

    happend

    to

    me.

  3. well it COULD break it but its unlikely. mostly if a speaker is unshielded (speakers have magnets so unless they are shielded they could interfere with the picture on your tv) it wont break your tv. i recommend making sure your speakers are shielded before placing them close to your tv. the subwoofer shouldnt be a problem but the other two might be.

  4. It is extremely unlikely that magnetic fields from speakers a foot away from the TV can affect an LCD TV in any way.  If the fields were strong enough to cause damage, you would have noticed severe defects in the picture long before a failure.
