Roads have bumps to control speed similarly it is possible to create a bump in rail tracks,

  1. No way. Trains are much too heavy for that. Rail cars and locomotives do not have suspensions like road vehicles and going over a bump like that would do damage and maybe cause a derailment. Railroad engineers tend to be pretty careful with their speeds because of the weight of the train behind them. They don't need speed bumps. Speeds are posted on signs along the tracks and exceeding the limit could cost an engineer his/her job. Some subway lines have automatic braking built in. When sensors detect that a train is going too fast a device will automatically trigger the brakes on the train.

  2. Why do that?

If anything,  they try to make the tracks as smooth as possible so the trains can go faster.   Right now they are going around and welding all the tracks into continuous rails to get rid of the clicky clack as the train wheels go over the rail junctions.

  3. they police themselves.if you speed, your entire crew can lose their jobs permenantly.

  4. LMAO  HERE IS YOUR SIGN

  5. Why to create speed breakers on railway tracks. It is  seperate passage meant only for trains. No one is going to interfere other then those crossings.

  6. Dear...... railway tracks are different than roads. on raods threr are lot of vehicles. but on railway tracks , there are few trains running at same time. threr is no requiremnt this kind of ..........

  7. Speed bumps may derail the train.

The bumps in the road don't slow down the cars. the drivers do. The bumps are only reminders.

Trains have other reminders, electronic ones, for the engineer to slow down when needed that won't derail the train.

  8. Well speed breakers are applied in major rail classification yards. As someone else ahs said, these are called retarders, which apply brakes to rail cars when switching. Railraods cann't however place them, on any main line.

  9. What you suggest is not feasible, nor is it necessary because the method of control of trains differs so fundamentally from roads. However, speed breakers are fitted. Many trains have a system which automatically applies the brake or retards the speed controller if either the maximum line speed or the unit's maximum allowed speed is exceeded. There are also systems called generically 'automatic train control' which bring the train to a halt should it pass a danger signal. Furthermore, in the UK and in the days of 'hump' shunting - which was that a train of uncoupled goods wagons would be pushed up a hump from each each wagon descended separately bring guided to the correct train of which it was to form part over a fan of sidings - the wagons would be slowed by 'retarders' placed inside the running rails which would squeeze against the wagon's wheels acting as a kind of exterior brake.

  10. Well I don't think there is reason to apply speed breakers in rail track coz nobody comes in front of a speeding train. But in the case of roads, they are very busy so then there is need to control speed here.

  11. there is a kind manual speedbreaker - people sitting in control towers and cabins to tell the engine drivers how fast to go, when to slow down, etc...

  12. No, here's why

Drivers have no-one controlling their speed or watching them except the occassional traffic cop, so speed bumps are put on roads to force people to slow down in especailly critical sfety zones.

Railroad engineers' performance and speed is constantly watched by railroad officials.

We are not allowed over the speed limits even by 2 or 3 MPH or we are subject to severe discipline.

If they want us to slow down, all they have to do is tell us, we'll comply.

If we dont, we will be fired and someone else will be there.

Railroad tracks develop enough bumps in them from normal wear and tear, there is no need to add any more.

  13. I'll help you in asking some more crack questions...

Try Plane- Do they have Horn? Do they blink side indicators while turning ? If plane apply brakes can it slow down in air..? Cool isn't it ? Now start irritating people...
