Can speed cameras only catch cars from the rear? and they must be positioned in that lane to do so?

  1. In states where both front and rear license plates are required they can take photos from the front too but what would the point be with vehicles that have no license plates on front.  The cameras are not in the lane but are trained or focused on that lane.

  3. Depending where you live a fixed digital speed camera detected speeding, a digital image of the vehicle is recorded onto a disk from which all details regarding the speeding vehicle can be extracted.

    The image clearly shows the color, type, make and number plate of the vehicle. Fixed digital speed cameras have the capacity to measure speed in both directions..................

  4. myth. They can bounce a laser off of your car at any speed, and/or any angle, up to a couple of miles away. All they need is a clear line of sight.

  5. They take the picture when you speed past it..so logically, it takes the picture from the rear. Im not sure if it has to be on the lane, but ive seen one camera take shots of all the lanes..
