I read that iron can help shorten the cycle.

  1. No it can't, it can help women who suffer from menorrhagia (heavy periods) or hypermenorrhagia (very heavy periods) because it replaces the iron lost - thus why it is often listed in articles, sites and books on menstruation.

In theory the things that help those who suffer from menorrhagia to lessen their periods can help normal women lessen their periods if they really wanted to - not using tampons, diet changes, taking yarrow, or taking Tranexamic acid.

  2. No.  That's an old wives tale.

Neither spinach nor iron shortens your cycle.
