I'm pretty much sure that my TV supports Progressive scan,

I'm connecting my DVD with my DV using Standard A/V Cables 3 Cables for Video Signal and 2 for Audio.

Can Progressive Scan work like this or it needs some special Cables.

  1. Progressive scan cables are not the same even though they both have three cables.

The RCA cables as you described carry one video and two for audio.

Progressive scan or component carry all three for video only , no audio.

So you can see it is different cables and both have different functions.

  2. You should use proper cables for the type of connections.

the type of setup you are explaining is the component cable which uses 3 video cords and two for audio.

  3. You're description is a bit imprecise. If you have 5 wires (3 for video and 2 for audio) you are good to go. If you have a single (yellow?) video connection that is composite ... and you would be much better to switch to component (red/green/blue triple RCA cable).

Remember you may have to specify/enable progressive scan in either/both the DVD player and TV (you will have to select the component input). It may be automatic, but you should verify. If the TV isn't accepting progressive you will get a multicolour swirling image ... so you will know.

    Hope that helps.
