Can staples be recycled with paper?

Sure - The paper is placed into a blending chest that is like a huge food processor.  The paper is broken down to individual fibers.

This slurry is passed through cyclonic filters that remove dirt and other foreign materials like staples.

Plastic cannot be filtered out, and can ruin a batch of paper.  Plastic should never be recycled with paper.
