Question:

Can straining with constipation prevent implantation after ivf?

I had embryos transferred 3 days ago and am experiencing severe constipation from the Progesterone shots. I'm drinking tons of prune juice, eating lots of fiber, drinking 3-4 Liters of water per day AND taking 2 TBS of mineral oil per day. I'm still constipated! Today is the day that they will most lilely implant and I just found myself on the toilet straining to pass a giant, rock hard bowel movement. Can this interfere with success? Sorry if this is gross...I'm just worried.

  1. No - straining will not impact embryo implantation.  Constipation is a common side effect of progesterone which slows the digestive tract and in my IVF paperwork with FAQ it said to call the doctor if it was bad but that it would not impact implantation.

    Keep staying positive!

Loads of sticky vibes and baby dust!

  2. Honey Im sure it wont interfere. I know you must be stressed but please try not to worry, stick to light duties only.

I hope this time its worked for you. Keep thinking positive thoughts- imagine the embryos implanting and developing.

Good luck to you lot of baby dust to you and yours!!!!
