  1. Well, while I can't diagnose anything I can say that stress is a big contributor to these kinds of symptoms.  The three people that can help you out are your general doctor/pediatrician, a different cardiologist than the one before, and believe it or not, a phycologist that has a MD in order to prescribe medicine.  If you are truly feeling these serious symptoms and  your cardiologist said it was all okay, then I suggest that you see a different cardiologist and possibly take an antidepressant for a while to see if that helps (even though it may not all be from stress).  Just understand that you probably have a very bad cardiologist who doesn't know how to do his job.

  2. to answer your title question, yes. many people under heightened stress levels complain of chest pains that may feel like anything from a heart attack with shooting pains in the arm  to increased heart rate and panic symptoms. Often these are accompanied by a normal EKG and blood pressure. You might want to consider either seeing a mental health professional or talking to someone you trust to help relieve stress. Your symptoms may escalate into panic attacks if you are not careful. best of luck to you and your mother.
