Can student be tax exempt?

If im a full time student and have a part time job can I bw tax exempt? Just wondering because some student said they can do it and they dont have chidren im just not sure....im from us, new york

  1. If you expect to make more than $5450 (from all jobs), you cannot be tax exempt for income tax purposes.

    If you are  full time student and the job is ON CAMPUS, the on campus job would be exempt from fica/mc tax.  


  2. Not because you are a student.  You don't get a tax break for that.  But if you make under $5450 as an employee and are a dependent, or under $8950 and are not a dependent, you don't pay any federal income tax.

  3. Yes, a student can be tax exempt.....but did you know that even a doctor can be tax exempt?

    For IRS purposes if you make less than $8,750 and you cannot be claimed as a dependent by anyone, then you won't have to pay federal income tax.
