Can taking anti-depressant meds do more harm than good sometimes?

I took some once & had a rash come out on my legs & chest.

Thats a pretty unusual side effect of anti depressents.  The side effect you should be more concerned with is if the anti depressents make your depression worse.  If this happens, try to keep in mind it is just the pills and call your doctor right away.  The rash could be a side effect, but if the pills help, I would deal with a temporary rash.  depends on what you are being treated for and with what.  Good Luck!


  2. a rash is usually an indicator of an allergic reaction to the medicine. I have taken them for 13 years with no problems. my doctor says that there are no bad long term effects caused from taking them. try a different medicine and see if it does better. my quality of life has improved so much that I will not consider stopping  taking them. keep in mind I takes up to 8 weeks for the medicine to really start to work. depending on what you take them for you might give it another try with a different medicine and give it time to work, you may be surprised at how much they can help
