Can taking ibruprofen cause an upset stomach?

I've had an ear infection for the last few days, and my doctor said I could take an over the counter painkiller. So I've been taking two ibuprofen (Motrin) pills once every 8 hours or so since Friday. My stomach has been upset yesterday and today, and I was wondering if it could be because of the medication. Anybody else have problems with this?

Yes, almost any medication can upset your stomach if you have an empty belly. I take Advil for headaches to muscleaches even ttoothaches It will make you nauseated if you take it on an empty stomach. Try eating a piece of bread or a few crackers even. That should help. Or just take the medication when you eat a meal or snack.

yes it can. sometimes you will get it and sometimes you won't. and no i take ibreprofen for my headaches and it does not give me an upset stomach. but everyone is different..

Yes but it doesn't bother me unless my stomach is completely empty.

I rather take Motrin than other stuff though, like aspirin stomach bleeding, Aleve blood clots, Tylenol liver damage etc.
